VLC for Android

VLC Media Player is a free, open source cross-platform multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as disks, devices, and network streaming protocols.

This is the VLC media player port to the Android ™ platform. VLC for Android can play any video and audio files, not just network streams, network shares and drives, and DVD ISOs, just like the desktop version of VLC.

VLC for Android is a complete audio player with a complete database, equalizer, filters and play all strange audio formats.

VLC is for everyone, it's completely free, and there are no ads, in-app purchases, or spies. Developed by enthusiastic volunteers. All source code is available free of charge.

VLC for Android ™ plays most local video and audio files, as well as desktop versions of VLC-like network streams (including adaptive streaming) and DVD ISOs. It also supports disk sharing.

All formats are supported, including MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, Ogg, FLAC, TS, M2TS, Wv, AAC. All codecs are included without a separate download. Supports subtitles, teletext, and closed captioning.

VLC for Android has a media library for audio and video files that allows you to browse folders directly.

VLC supports multitrack audio and subtitles. It supports automatic rotation, aspect ratio adjustment, and gestures to control volume, brightness, and seek.

It also includes widgets for audio control and supports audio headset control, cover art, and a complete audio media library.

VLC for Android requires access to these categories:
• "Photos / Media / Files" for reading all your media files :)
• "Storage" to SD card to read all your media files :)
• "Other" to check network connection, change volume, set ringtone, run on Android TV, display pop-up view. See below for details.

Permission details:
• To read the media file, you need to "Read the contents of the USB storage".
• To delete the file and save the subtitles, you need to "Change or delete the contents of the USB storage".

• “Full network access” is required to open network and internet streams.
• To prevent your smartphone from sleeping when you watch a video, you need to "make your smartphone never sleep".
• To change the volume, you need to "Change audio settings".
• To be able to change the audio ringtone, you need to change the system settings.
• View Network Connections is required to monitor whether a device is connected.
• To launch the Custom Picture-in-Picture widget, you need to "Layer it on another app".
• “Control vibration” is required to provide control feedback.
• To set recommendations on the Android TV launcher screen, which is used only on Android TV devices, you need to "Run at startup".
• A “microphone” is required to provide voice search on Android TV devices.
